Parade
Guidelines

1. All TROD parade participants, must sign in with
the parade coordinator upon arrival at designated meeting area and turn
in current Coggins Test results before the parade steps off.
2. Because of insurance reasons, only current TROD members are permitted
to participate in parades representing TROD. (You are welcome to join
or renew your membership the day of the parade).
3. All participants, under 18 years of age, must be accompanied by a
parent or other adult TROD member who has agreed to supervise them.
4. Only experienced riders are permitted to ride upon a horse in the
parade.
5. Only one rider per horse is allowed.
6. Horses must be as clean as possible.
7. Horses must be in good physical condition, sound with no sign of
lameness.
8. No full size stallions are allowed to participate in the parade regardless
of how calm they are.
9. Horses that have a tendency to kick must wear a red ribbon on their
tail as a warning sign to others.
10. Horse should be kept a minimum of 10 feet from spectators. Ride
two by two or single file. No riding three horses across. Formation
is important.
11. Mistreatment of horses or persons, including yelling at horses or
persons, will not be tolerated.
12. Throwing candy from vehicles, floats or horseback is not allowed
as it can create a dangerous situation for small children that may run
into the street or into the path of a moving animal or vehicle.
13. Only walking and trotting are allowed. Rearing, cantering, bucking
and galloping are not.
14.
Any overly excited horse should be walked by its owner on a lead rope.
If your horse is not cooperating, you may be asked to load your horse
into the TROD trailer where it will remain until the end of the parade.
Safety is of utmost importance.
15. Walkers will carry a lead rope and will walk between
the horses and the crowd. Make sure you know who the walkers are should
you need their help during the parade.
16. Carry the name and phone number of the parade coordinator (630-202-6932)
on your person in case you get lost or need directions.
